The palace was built in the Renaissance style at the beginning of the 17th century. An important historical event was the presence of Augustus the Strong, Frederick William I of Prussia, and his Crown Prince Frederick. They admired the fireworks display of the Zeithain camp from their windows. The two-winged Renaissance palace was specially rebuilt in the Baroque style for this spectacle.
