Master builder Pöppelmann was commissioned by August the Strong. In 1722 the construction of the palace complex began. After Napoleon's defeat, it was awarded to Prussia in the Congress of Vienna. Today is owned by the Free State of Saxony. A visit is worthwhile here, preferably coming from Beilrode so that you avoid the main road.
