On the Milch-Kuhl-Tour you will always find cows with some information. Simply scan the QR code and you will get information. The most important fodder base for cattle is grassland, both as fresh grass and as a feed stock in the form of silage or hay.As a ruminant, beef has four stomachs (rumen, reticulated stomach, leaf stomach, abomasum) and is therefore able to utilize plants that are indigestible for humans. The beef has no incisors in the upper jaw, but a chewing plate. When grazing, tufts of grass are torn off with the rough tongue and swallowed almost unchewed. If the rumen is full, the animal lies down and has to deal with chewing for several hours. With the help of bacteria, the feed is broken down and further digested.
