In the wonderfully enchanted Kondelwald it used to be predatory: After the end of the Seven Years' War (1756 to 1763) the area on the left bank of the Rhine was occupied by Napoleon I's troops. A state of lawlessness followed, during which gangs of robbers formed. In addition, there was great famine and so the starving horses stole from the French occupation forces. The horses were hidden in the mills of the Kondelwald and sold on.

Beautiful way through the Kondelwald in the Kerbtal of the Hesselbach.
The paths are rarely used and are partly blocked by dead wood.
