Rarely seen such a large and well-preserved ruin, both with the keep, as well as the fountain and moat, the historical highlight of the area!

Rosenburg Castle ruins near Ramsenburg:
Picturesque ruins of a small clearing castle on a steep hill around 2 km west of Herisau. The complex, probably founded in the early 13th century, belonged to a branch of the Lords of Rorschach and was destroyed by the rebellious Appenzellers in 1403. You can see the preserved remains of the walls of a residential tower, the rampart with gate system and a larger building in the castle courtyard.
