In 1926, the Swiss customs built a log cabin for their own use about 300 meters from the San Giacomo Pass. Towards the end of the 1930s, an infantry fortress was built: the blockhouse was converted into a bunker by doubling the thickness of the wall. Three positions with machine gun embrasures and a shelter were built under the rock. The fortress was equipped with 5 Type 1911 machine guns on mounts.
The fortress was supplied with the cable car (02) which led from Grandinagia.
