Numerous boundary stones from 1790 remind us that this was the border between the then margraviate of Baden and the Archduchy of Austria, to which large parts of the Breisgau belonged under the collective name of Vorderösterreich. Today there is still an administrative border here: between the districts of Lörrach and Freiburg-Hochschwarzwald.
