The Luizenmolen fits here quite naturally as a symbolic highlight of these traditionally agricultural spaces. It is actually a replica of a windmill that existed in the same location between 1864 and 1955. The gently undulating topography of south-west Brussels lent itself very well to the use of windmills where the valleys were ideal lines for the construction of water mills. The replica was built in 1996 and listed since 2007.

The mill is in working order and can also be visited in season!

The Luizenmolen or windmill of Anderlecht is a post mill in the Vlindersstraat in Anderlecht.
The application for the establishment of the Luizenmolen was submitted in 1862. In 1864 it was built behind the miller's house. Because of the construction of a barn on that site, it was moved to a verge next to the farm buildings. This mill mountain is still visible today. In 1939 the family of the last miller sold the mill, which had fallen into disuse since 1928, to the municipality of Anderlecht. During the war, in 1942, the mill was classified, which did not prevent its decay, so that it had to be demolished in 1955. Thanks to a dynamic team, concerned with the local heritage, a copy (on a slightly reduced scale) of the mill has been re-erected, on a new mill hill built about thirty meters from the original verge. In May 1999 the milling mill was inaugurated. In 2007 this mill was also protected.
