The trabocco or travocco is an imposing construction made of Aleppo pine wood typical of the areas of the middle Adriatic, moldable, capable of withstanding the saltiness and the strong gusts of the mistral that beat the Adriatic. Consisting of a platform jutting out into the sea anchored to the rock by large trunks from which two or more long arms, called antennas, stretch out, suspended a few meters from the water, which support a huge tight-meshed network: the "balance". The different characterization of the coastline has defined the distinction of different typologies: this one, the Abruzzo one, is distinguished precisely by being positioned transversely with respect to the coast to which it is connected by walkways.

Along the trabocchi coast cycle path, starting from Fossacesia Marina in the direction of Ortona, you come across the Trabocchi, a particular type of native pile-dwelling, which can be found along the entire coast and floats on the waters of the Adriatic Sea.
