Parish Church of St. Othmar, Kolonitzpl. 1, 1030 Vienna

    A BRIEF DESCRIPTION

After 8 years of construction, St. Othmar Church was consecrated on August 24, 1873 and elevated to a parish church on January 1, 1874. The church is built in the neo-Gothic style. The plans were made by the cathedral master builder Friedrich von Schmidt, the builder of the Vienna City Hall. At 80 m, the tower is one of the highest church towers in Vienna. Worth seeing: Stations of the Cross by Rudolf Holzinger, the last representative of the Nazarene School; Golden Mother of God by Franz Barwig (rare depiction: “Mother of God hands Jesus to the believers”); oil painting in the presbytery: “Glorification of St. Margaret” by Anton Maulpertsch, 1767; “Holy Family” by Julio Giavani, 1860, baptismal chapel.
