The Straußsteig is considered the first secured alpine trail in the Eastern Alps. It was established in 1890 and completely renovated in 2008. The trail runs along the north ridge of the Panülerkopf, sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left of the flank, with several cable-roped sections and two ladders at dangerous points. I found it to be very long and challenging overall (T4), almost like a via ferrata. The second, curved ladder marks the end of the difficult sections. I would advise against attempting this trail in rainy or damp conditions.
