The Fritzdorf windmill, also known as the Fritzdorf windmill tower, was built in 1842 and stands 259 metres above sea level on the "Scheid" hill, the highest spot between the Grafschaft and Wachtberg Ländchen on the state border with Rhineland-Palatinate. The tower of the mill, which is still preserved, is considered the landmark of Fritzdorf, and from it the view - provided the weather is clear - extends far into the Eifel and as far as Cologne Cathedral.
A Celtic refuge and a Roman watchtower are said to have already been located at the site of the mill.
