Rudolf Joseph Lorenz Steiner, born on February 25, 1861 in Donji Kraljevec, near Čakovec, then Kingdom of Croatia and Slavonia and Empire of Austria, today Croatia; died March 30, 1925 in Dornach, Switzerland, was an Austrian esotericist and philosopher. He founded Anthroposophy, a Gnostic worldview that is related to Christian Theosophy, Rosicrucianism and idealistic philosophy and is counted among the neumystical conceptions of unity around 1900. On the basis of this teaching, Steiner gave influential suggestions for various areas of life, such as education (Waldorf education), art (eurythmy, anthroposophic architecture), medicine (anthroposophic medicine) and agriculture (biodynamic agriculture).

Steiner's teaching is in parts racist, which his disciples never dealt with. Sect-like traits are criticized at the Waldorf community, and it is also quite a commercial model. Such monuments play down dangerous esoteric worldviews from which generations of children have to suffer.
