The station building was completed in 1868, a year before the first train arrived in Ehingen. It was officially opened on June 13, 1869, with the arrival of the first train on the Ulm–Sigmaringen line. The station now connected to the Württemberg Railway network. At 37.04 meters long and 12.55 meters wide, the station building is very large for the region and of exceptional architectural quality. It still dominates the townscape today. With its adjacent bus station, Ehingen station is a modern local transport hub on the Danube Valley Railway, one of the most important east-west connections in southern Germany.
