Seen from the source, the Ruhr is dammed here for the first time to produce electricity.

One of the reservoirs on the Ruhr cycle path. But rather a smaller one. Still a pretty place.

Hiking

The reservoir is quite centrally located in the district of Olsberg. A path (path to the reservoir) leads from the center directly to the weir system. The lake is designed to generate electricity and therefore unfortunately cannot be used for boats or swimmers. A walk around the lake is definitely worth it. You can hike the naturally preserved path through the oak grove - well marked and signposted with the signs 1, 09 or X1. It is possible to get back to the town center on the other side of the lake via the Ruhr Bridge.
