Part of the GR 223 (Tour du Cotentin) which links Carolles to Saint-Jean-le-Thomas via the cliffs of Champeaux. If your calves are strong, you will pass in front of the 3 Vauban huts which mark out this path. Do not miss them !
Beautiful panoramic views of Mont Saint-Michel, its bay or Brittany, opposite.

The customs officers' path, which actually consists of several small paths, owes its name to Gabelous, the Customs officer of the Ancien Régime under Sun King Louis XIV. From the 17th to the 20th century, the winding coastal paths served to protect the French inland from smugglers, raiders and customs fraudsters. The Zöllnerpfad with its almost 2,000 kilometers to the longest hiking trails in France. The current section is beautifully situated with a view of Mont Saint Michél.
