Hochhausen Castle originated in the early Middle Ages.
At that time the complex was probably armored and was rebuilt in 1752 by Damian Hugo, a forefather of the von Helmstatt family, in the late Baroque style.
Raban von Helmstatt added a two-story entrance hall to the castle in 1895.
