Edelweißspitze Summit and Edelweißhütte
Cycling Highlight
Recommended by 151 out of 153 cyclists
Location: Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße, Bezirk Zell am See, Salzburg, Austria
The last few meters from the parking lot are closed to large vehicles (from 3.5 tons), the cobblestone road winds in 7 bends, exposed on the slope and without protection from wind and weather, with noticeably thin air towards the summit. Cyclists share the road with drivers who often find it difficult to get around the narrow bends and when there is oncoming traffic, they often stall because the road is so narrow.
There is almost always a wind at the top. Soon it will be cold for the cyclist.
The experience of being at the top and the view of Lake Zell at the bottom, just visible in the distance, is really great.

The view is worth it because of the exposed location!
RR: Due to the cobblestones, caution is advised when wet. It's best to drive very early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the avalanche of metal is gone, because many drivers are not really able to master the narrow route smoothly. Due to croudings not recommended for block handling.
