Best Hikes to Brunneck Castle Ruins

Tips

  • Built at the end of the 14th century by the Lords of Heideck, only two remains of the walls remain, which were made accessible again in 2017 after renovation. Beautiful view of Erlingshofen.

  • The Brunneck castle ruins above Altdorf in the Anlautertal were built in the 14th to 15th centuries. Today, however, only remnants remain. From the castle ruins, you have a wonderful view of the Anlautertal. The complex, with an approximately trapezoidal floor plan, is separated from the hinterland by a wide moat. The rampart is 7 to 8 meters high on the west and south sides and reinforced like a shield wall in the west. There is a buried cellar vault in the castle. The farm below the ruins belongs to the area of the former outer bailey. Source:
