The Jünkerath iron museum was established in 1991 by the then Daun district in the building of the former Jünkerath vocational school. The museum was privatized on April 1, 2012 and has been managed by Christine and Christian Engels since then. It is right next to the site of a foundry founded over 300 years ago. Jünkerath was already known in Roman times as the Icorigium, a fort on the Roman road Trier-Cologne. In the iron museum, visitors can inspect a large number of exhibits that are of great importance both in terms of art history and archaeology.
