Lake Braies / Pragser Wildsee

Strolling along the shores of Lake Braies is truly wonderful! The high peaks and the coniferous forest perfectly frame the water basin, so much so as to give the idea of living in a dream.

A trip is especially worthwhile early in the morning and in the evening. The lake is not quite so run by tourists and you can feel the magic of the reflections in the water again very differently.

The Pragser Wildsee is part of the Unesco World Natural Heritage Dolomites. The popular circular route around this magical mountain lake is a nature experience for young and old, because the entire hiking trail is safely developed and well marked. Starting from the historic Hotel Pragser Wildsee, you start the circular hike on the left bank of the lake. In parts, the route runs directly along the lake shore and in sections a little higher on the wooded slopes. Around the lake there are also inviting seating areas for picnics and sunny lawns for swimming in the lake. The Wildsee tour is about 4 kilometers long and takes about 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace.

The most beautiful view of the Pragser Wildsee is from the 2810 m high Seekofel. The hike begins around the middle of the lake and is advertised as taking around 4 hours to the summit.
