Old Rhine Ferry Friesenheimer Island–Sandhofen

The ferry only runs until September 30th, after which you have to take a detour via the Altrheinbrücke.👍
On the other side is the Dehus restaurant with various game dishes or freshly caught fish.

According to Wikipedia, the Altrheinfähre Mannheim is the oldest functioning ferry in Germany and connects the district Sandhofen with the Friesenheimer island across the Mannheim Altrhein away.
The ferryman is always in a good mood and having a little chat. We have never had to wait a long time here, as it is usually translated as needed.

Probably the oldest ferry in Germany that is still in operation. Pretty quaint. When I got to the shore, the ferry was lying still in the middle of the river. The ferryman then called out to me if I wanted to cross the river. When I said YES, he started the engines and I was able to enjoy a single ride for 50 cents.
