The huge plant is not 100 years old. It was built in the Bauhaus style and is considered the most beautiful mine in the world. She gave thousands of jobs, everything was about coal and coke. Today it is a tourist magnet.

All of a sudden you are standing on the grounds of Zollverein.
Gradually there were trees on both sides of the track and then you stand in the middle of the huge industrial plant from the past.
So you cycle along old pipe routes past the various buildings and think: "What must it have looked like when the facilities were still in operation?".

An absolute must, if you want to get to know the history of mining and the Ruhr area.
In the museum one learns a lot about the people here and the change that the Ruhrgebiet has gone through.
(in a corner is a video with "Fritz Eckenga", who talks beautifully on Ruhrpöttisch.) Many have something against the expression Ruhrpottplatt.)
Not only for Ruhrpottler worth a visit.
