The Pragelpass is the small, hidden alternative to the Klausen Pass or a nice addition: Together with the Klausen Pass there is a beautiful but naturally intensive race bike tour with two demanding passes. The Pragelpass takes you up to 1550 meters. He will certainly inspire you with his amazing view of the Muota valley.

On weekends, the pass is closed to motorized traffic and is available exclusively to cyclists and. On the 22nd and 23rd of September 2018 the event "Freipass Klausen Pragel" will take place here.

    Pass-Facts for the free pass:
Duration of the block: 10 am - 3 pm (blocked sections move with the guest area)
    Highest point: 1550 m
    Start: Landsgemeinde Glarus
    Destination: Landsgemeindeplatz Glarus
Distance: 21 km, of which 21 km are closed
Altitude: 1092, of which 1092 blocked
    average
    Gradient: 4.9%

    The Pragelpass is scenically unique.

One of the most beautiful alpine passes for racing cyclists. The first 6 km always in the double-digit range, then a relaxed up and down through a beautiful alpine landscape. Hardly any traffic!

Attention the Pragelpass is on the Schwyzer side to the border to Glarus on the weekend passable

Hard on both sides, but the west side is absolutely nothing to drive down: 12 km on inclines of 18% and more, with terrible asphalt and cow leftovers on the extremely narrow road is only recommended for drivers who absolutely want to test their brakes . The east side is wonderful for going downhill, so my tip: it's better to go up from the west and down to the east.

The west side is to recommend with up to 18% slope only for the departure. As it is steep on the western side sometimes over longer stretches of about 14%, you should keep the Flegt temperature in mind.

Make sure to be prepared in early May and September as it gets very cold if you get stuck in the mountain shadows. It is one of the most beautiful rides I have ever done.

Beautiful car-free pass with ideal swimming opportunities in Lake Klöntal (towards Glarus)
