The Pragel Pass is the small, hidden alternative to the Klausen Pass or a nice addition: Together with the Klausen Pass, it makes for a beautiful, but of course intense road bike tour with two challenging passes. The Pragel Pass takes you up to 1,550 meters. With its incredible view of the Muota Valley, it will definitely inspire you.

On weekends, the pass is closed to motorized traffic and is only available to cyclists.

Pass facts for the free pass:

Duration of the closure: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (closed sections change with the number of guests)

    Highest point: 1,550 m

    Start: Landsgemeindeplatz Glarus

    Finish: Landsgemeindeplatz Glarus

Distance: 21 km, of which 21 km are closed

Elevation gain: 1,092, of which 1,092 are closed

    Average gradient: 4.9%

Hard on both sides, but the west side is absolutely nothing to drive down: 12 km on inclines of 18% and more, with terrible asphalt and cow leftovers on the extremely narrow road is only recommended for drivers who absolutely want to test their brakes . The east side is wonderful for going downhill, so my tip: it's better to go up from the west and down to the east.

One of the most beautiful alpine passes for racing cyclists. The first 6 km always in the double-digit range, then a relaxed up and down through a beautiful alpine landscape. Hardly any traffic!
