Gmunden is a town in the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut, on the north bank of the Traunsee.It has 13,275 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and is the seat of the district administration of the Gmunden district. As the center of the Gmunden judicial district, it houses the district court. The city is known as the place of origin of Gmundner ceramics with its characteristic white and green flamed decor. During the k. u. k. Monarchy, Gmunden was a renowned summer resort, which numerous villas testify to. The city also became famous in the 1990s through the television series Schlosshotel Orth.
