Whispering house with a nice view over the city. If you whisper in a corner of the monument, you can hear it loud and clear in the other corners.

From here you have a really good view of Arnsberg.
There is also quite a bit of history about the Ehmsendenkmal.

Not for nothing else is this building also called the Whisper House. Stand in a corner and speak very quietly to the wall. Someone across the street can easily hear your whisper. Always a highlight, especially for little hikers.

The whisper castle is very, very interesting one goes in a corner the other goes into the corner across the street and man whispers in the truest sense of the word only whispers the one across the street thinks you would talk more like loudly it is very impressed full of reverberation so loud at the other end can appear

"... The monument was erected in honor of the co-founder of the Sauerland Mountain Association Forstrat Ernst Ehmsen (born December 15, 1833 in Rendsburg; died March 19, 1893 in Göttingen). In 1884, Ehmsen was appointed forester to the Arnsberg government Here he founded the Sauerland Tourist Association in 1890 together with the Arnsberg historian Karl Feáux de Lacroix, against the backdrop of the hiking movement. From this, the Sauerland Mountain Association (SGV), which still exists today, emerged in 1891. Ehmsen was not only for responsible for the public relations work of the SGV but also researched the regional history and was responsible for its publication.
Ehmsen was fascinated by his new home and had long carried the idea of building a memorial and a lookout tower for a "deserving man" on the Schlossberg. After his death this idea was realized. A committee for the construction of the monument of honor decided in 1894 that the oak wood, which mediates the transition to the great outdoors, would be a better location. Thus, on its eastern side above the Ruhr, a viewing platform and monument was built on the outermost edge of a rocky outcrop. Today, the structural development of the historically grown city with its formative buildings can be read very well from here. ... "
