Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
Riding through the 2 tunnels is a unique experience. They feel chilly in summer and warm in winter. Bicycle lights are not necessary but are helpful especially if you are with children who may be difficult for cyclists coming the other way to see.

A fine shortcut runs through two (former railroad) tunnels. Lights front and rear are a good thing to have.

Off road cycle route. Mile and half or so in tunnel adds interest and there is music to keep you company at times.

Beware when it is warm outside, the condensation in the tunnels creates a lot of wet soot that covers you and your bike. Don't wear your favourite jersey!

An wonderful experience riding through here, with the smooth tarmac, uniform distanced lights and classical music being piped out. Breathtaking.

Always take a front light as sometimes the lights in the tunnel aren’t on. You seriously won’t see A THING if that’s the case. Music in the middle is nice. It WILL be chilly, and will feel chillier on a hot day than a cold (due to relative temperatures).

Great flat ride from Bristol all the way to the two tunnels, there’s a pub at the end to refuel - The Hope and Anchor in Midford
