The coots are still there and can be easily observed.However, the large Kaltentalweiher pond is almost completely covered in silt. There are a few benches here, but now in May they are almost completely taken over by stinging nettles. Next to the benches is a memorial stone commemorating Siegfried Palmer (1929-2018), former forestry director in Bad Urach from 1963 to 1976.

The pond presents a very unusual sight in autumn/winter. The forestry department lets it dry out so that the pond floor can regenerate over the winter.
