The Statzerhaus is enthroned on the highest grass mountain in Europe, the Hundstein. The views of the surrounding countryside are simply breathtaking. The hut was built in 1891 and has been open every year since 1892 from Pentecost to October. The small hut offers six beds and 27 places in the dormitory. More information at statzer.schutz.haus

The trip here is worthwhile for several reasons:

The Hundstein offers in beautiful weather an impressive panorama: in the east of the Dachstein, seen from the south, the snow-capped peaks of the Hohe Tauern such as the Kitzsteinhorn, the Great Wiesbachhorn, the Grossglockner close enough, in the west of the Wilde Kaiser, the Leogang mountains and the shimmering blue Zeller See in the valley, in the north the Steinerne Meer and the majestic Hochkönig.

Also in October a hike and a trip worth it!
From 15.04. until 15.11. open, even with snow.
We were glad that we could stop here on the first snowfall on 01.10.18!

Very delicious food at reasonable prices, great views and a nice hostess! An exhausting climb that is definitely worth it!
