The 115 steps of the spiral staircase inside the tower are worthwhile in any case: from the top you have a great view over Alzey, Weinheim, the Kettenheimer Grund and Donnersberg. On very clear days, you can even see the skyline of Frankfurt. Bring binoculars!

The Wartberg Tower near the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Alzey in Germany is a 28.15 meter high observation tower. It was first mentioned in documents in 1420 and served as an observation post for military purposes. Wikipedia

On the top of the Wartberg (275m), the Wartberg Tower towers. Unfortunately he is not to climb. (Update: Anyway, not when I was there.) If someone knows the "opening times", he can tell you.)
