Berlin bankers invested with the "Ostseebad Binz AG" in the expansion of the seaside resort and had a spa house built, which opened on July 22, 1890. One of the first guests was Empress Auguste Viktoria. The half-timbered house burned down on May 1, 1906. In the summer of 1907, the municipal council decided to rebuild the Kurhaus from stone according to the plans of the Berlin master builder Otto Spalding. The building became a landmark of the seaside resort. Today it is a hotel.
