The Hardsteinkreuz, also Straßburger Kreuz, stands on a rocky outcrop (hard rock) of the Omerskopf at a height of 704m. When the weather is good, you have an excellent panoramic view over the Rhine plain and as far as the Vosges. The Hardsteinkreuz is a memorial in honor of fallen soldiers of the First World War. The inscription below the monument can be read from the slightly lower platform. The Lower Saxony Foot Artillery Regiment was part of the Prussian Army during World War I.
