Hiking

The oldest church building, the symbol of the city, was built in the first third of the 12th century. The towers of different heights are a special feature. While the northern tower of the parish is 48 m high, the southern city tower is only 45 m high and used to be used as a watchtower and city archive.

There is evidence of an early mission church at this point as early as the year 800. The precious Renaissance pulpit from 1597 shows the four virtues of wisdom, justice, bravery and moderation on the parapet relief made of alabaster.

Cycling

The two-towered westwork of Kilianikirche towers over Höxter and can be seen from afar. St. Kiliani was built in the 11th century from Weser sandstone, in place of a previous church from the 8th century. The architectural style is originally Romanesque. Over the centuries, the church has been extended several times, restored and repaired after damage. St. Kiliani was the model for the extension of the abbey church in Corvey.
