The Counts of Regenstein had possession here as borrowers of the Halberstadt monastery, which they borrowed from ministerials who named themselves after the place, first mentioned in 1212 with Giselbertus de Aderstide. In 1343 the Regenstein family had to cede their fiefdom to the Counts of Wernigerode. The Lords of Aderstedt also acquired property in the area. Margarete von Aderstedt brought Aderstedt to the Messrs. Spiegel by marriage at the beginning of the 15th century.
