Built in 1888 at the entrance to the Old Harbor. The entry into force of the Mecklenburg customs laws in 1868 and Wismar's membership of the Zollverein established the upswing in the city's economy. The former customs office building, Spiegelberg 9, no longer met the changed requirements, which is why this neo-Gothic new building was built with a particularly richly designed stepped gate.
