My research at the Johanniskreuz Forestry Office (Elmstein Forest District) in July 2021 revealed that the original burnt beech tree, which was formerly officially designated a "natural monument," no longer exists since 1994, as it had to be felled.
Afterwards, the "burnt beech" sign was simply hung on a younger beech tree.
Now, "burnt beech" no longer designates a "natural monument," but simply a small local landmark and rest area on this district road in the Palatinate Forest.
