The path still exists, but is no longer maintained and used very little. That's why he's overgrown and quite adventurous, as written in another comment. We would be almost reversed twice. Long pants, good shoes and tread resistance are recommended.

The route left today (end of January 2019) and yes, it is demanding, but doable. It's just not a stretch for people who usually just keep on the roadside and taking pictures.
A must is waterproof hiking boots, as you walk through mud a lot and have to cross a stream twice. A long pants that can get wet is also recommended, as you walk along with the legs of the plants, if necessary, thorns!
But otherwise a wonderful hike where you can rest and really enjoy the original forest.
