"... The Sophienquelle and the fountain temple above it are the landmark of the place.
The Sophienquelle is hidden in the fountain temple. It got its name in 1837 from Grand Duchess Sophie, the great sponsor of the baths in Peterstal and Griesbach. The mineral spring was discovered in 1835 by Franz Xaver Kimmig, who then had the pavilion built over the spring. The natural mineral water can be sampled at the pumps in the middle of the pavilion, whereby the taste with a low carbonic acid content also finds its friends. ... "
