The main purpose of the refuge is to protect a complex of fresh and variable wet meadows. In addition, an important asset of the refuge is the existence of permanent populations of numerous invertebrates. Oxbow lakes are a nesting place for, among others, spotted eagle, black tern, sawyer The lapwings nest in the meadows: lapwings, baskets, Eurasian curlew, roar, bloodbill, corncrake.
