Bike Touring Highlight
The foundation of the village dates back to Roman times. Today Pontebba fights with the declining population. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile for pedals on the Alpe-Adria bike path to make a break here. The three-aisled, Gothic parish church of Santa Maria Maggiore with its carved winged altar from 1517 can be seen. The Palazzo municipale (the town hall was built in 1923) has a remarkable staircase. And last but not least the church of San Giovanni Battista.
