Nothing is known about the church mentioned in 1308. It was either rebuilt or replaced by a new building around 1418, as can be seen from a petition from Wilhelm von Loen to the Count of Blankenheim. This church is said to have been dedicated not to St. Wendelin, but to St. Arnulf of Metz. It is not known exactly when the patronage changed.
The Gothic parish church from the 15th century became dilapidated in the middle of the 19th century and it was decided to build a new parish church. The current church was built in 1864 and the old church was demolished. It is unknown who provided the plans for the new building. The ceremonial consecration of the church did not take place until eight years after completion on August 30, 1872. In 1894 the bell tower was badly damaged by lightning and had to be restored. During the Second World War there was only minor damage, which occurred mainly in January 1945. The parish church has been restored several times since then. Source: Wikipedia.
The church is currently receiving a new roof made of natural slate.
