Baroque church with sandstone facades, built in the period 1699-1704 on the site of a Gothic church. The church is dedicated to Saint Ludgerus, the founder of the German Abbey of Werden, which owned Zele through a donation from Charlemagne.
Striking element: the freestanding octagonal tower of 59 meters (completed in 1717).
In 2012, four years of restoration work on the outer facades of the nave were completed.
