You can take a break on the bench on the platform very well, enjoying the view of the beautiful nature and listening to the frog concert. For storks it would be an Eldorado with the many frogs that are here.

The Volksdorf pond meadows are one of the last well-preserved "tunnel valleys" in Hamburg, which was created by melting water flowing under the ice in the immediate vicinity of the edge of the ice. In contrast to many other tunnel valleys, e.g. the Stellmoor tunnel, the Volksdorfer tunnel is extremely short and therefore represents a geological peculiarity. Today the Volksdorfer pond meadows appear only as a gentle valley trough, since the originally much deeper hollow form was filled with over 14 m layers of soil.

These geological peculiarities have led to the formation of a location that is particularly attractive for the flora. In June, nature lovers will be rewarded with the sight of thousands of blooming orchids.
