    hermitage

The menhir did not reach its current location until 1866. It probably originally came from a nearby field, but the exact location is unknown. When Waldtraut Schrickel was photographed in the 1950s, the stone was at an angle. In 2003 it had to be supported with tree trunks after the Heilbach had washed it away during a flood. The menhir was raised again in 2004.[1]The menhir consists of Senonian quartzite; the next deposit is about 1.5 km away near Heimburg. Its height is 290 cm, width 195 cm and depth 75 cm. The stone is plate-shaped and heavily weathered. On one narrow side it has a shoulder that gives the stone the appearance of a hand

The "long stones" made of senon quartzite from a quarry near Heimburg were erected 4000-5000 years ago during the Neolithic period. It is assumed that these are graves or ancestral memorials.
