Surrounded by spruce trees stand six beech trees, around 250 years old, known as Les Six Hêstres. The gnarled, moss-covered trees lend the spot a particularly mystical atmosphere. Shepherds used to stop here with their flocks for their midday rest, though back then there were no spruce trees around. Even today, two benches, weathered by wind, weather, and time, invite visitors to linger, as do the tree ruins themselves.

The approximately 250-year-old beech trees, at the end of their life cycle, were placed under protection in 1936. They formerly served as a prandj'lohe (resting place) for shepherds and their flocks. In 1993, the Friends of the Fens planted young beech trees to replace them.

Les Six Hêtres – the six beech trees – stand in the forest between Xhoffraix and Hockai, north of the Route de l’Ancienne Douane road. The surrounding marshland is also known as Fagne de Tirifaye.
