In the south of Aachen, via the II. Rote Haag Weg, the Eupener Straße or on foot through the forest from the beginning of the Monschauer Straße, the Kupferbach reservoir is located in the forest. You can immediately feel the calm that emanates from this small body of water. Rare birds bred here. Geese and swans raise their young at the lake completely undisturbed. There are only a few walkers here. A place for everyone who is looking for peace and quiet, simply wants to surrender to nature. This place is ideally suited for contemplation and meditation, but also for jogging and hiking. From here the paths lead into the Aachen forest up to the border regions of Belgium. The reservoir, which has existed since around 1928, is fed by the Kupferbach, which then flows into the Aachen valley basin. The reservoir has a playground for the little ones, and the forest stadium is right next door.

The Kupferbach reservoir is the largest body of water between Eupener Strasse and Monschauer Strasse. Like other dams in the south of Aachen, it was created as a rainwater retention basin. At the same time it is a recreation area.
