St. Maria village church

On June 3, 1858, 25 Seugaster families came together for a village assembly and decided to build a church in Seugast. However, the plans did not go beyond a location and a finished construction plan. In a second attempt, construction of a chapel began on September 14, 1903. The chapel was inaugurated by Father Meinrad Plank and pastor Jakob Meier on July 3, 1904, initially with a temporary altar. On September 4, 1904, the temporary altar was replaced by a neo-Gothic style altar. The altar was made by master carpenter Franz Ringer from Vilseck. In 1928 the chapel was expanded into a church for the first time. Among other things, the church got a tower. In 1958 and 1959, the church was extended by another transept. The altar from 1904 was replaced by a new one. The church received its current form. In 1986 the church was renovated inside and out. It is one of three churches in Bavaria that do not belong to the church but to the community.
