The ascent of the Großer Widderstein is advisable from Baad in the counterclockwise direction. Up to and from the actual entry is a mountain tour without much difficulty. Ascent in the summit channel demands surefootedness and mindfulness, especially due to loose scree. Attention: in the summer months heavily frequented.

    Refreshments Ascent: Bärgünthütte
Refreshments Descent: Upper Widdersteinhütte, Hinter Gemsteltalalpe, Gestell-Schönebodenalpe, Vordergemsteltal (Insider's tip), Tonisgemsteltalalpe

The tour on the Großer Widderstein (2,533 m) is not an insider's tip, but the crisp summit rise and the magnificent panoramic view make up for the fact that a lot can be going on at the weekend! If you are busy on such days, it is best to wear a helmet because there are always a few crazy people who do not behave properly. So definitely have the right equipment with you!

A tour on the Großer Widderstein requires alpine experience, sure-footedness and a head for heights. A well-visible path leads directly from the nearby road over steep mountain meadows in the direction of Widdersteinhütte. About 200m before the refuge, the path branches off to the left in the direction of the summit and leads to a steep gully, where you can easily climb the ridge. Especially the final ascent to the summit is challenging but feasible because not exposed.

From Mittelberg to Baad around it. Since we are in the autumn for hiking in the Kleinwalsertal, most of the peaks remain denied us because of the existing snow most. Refreshments in the Bärgunthütte are always recommended.

Fantastic natural landscape, on a sunny May day only a little tourism, the last 400hm on the Widderstein are feasible only with frequent use of hands and risk-taking. Large snowfields cover the lavishly marked trails and make a climb in May even more difficult.

Is not bad, if you stay at the Widdersteinhütte. Otherwise it is quite exhausting. Once I was on the Widderstein - long ago!

Highest mountain of the Kleinwalsertal with an impressive mountain panorama and view of the valley axis. The ascent is possible from Warth and Kleinwalsertal. The climb requires alpine experience, sure-footedness and a head for heights.

The climb is often very busy in summer. No insider tip, but always nice.

I've been to the summit several times already. It is always impressive to be up there. I am also happy to go up from Gemsteltal and then descend on Baad again. Often, ibex can be seen on this majestic mountain. The Council, with helmet to take the crisp, last climb, has its permission. Looking forward to the fall of 2019 - then it is due again.

Gigantic view from this summit. Attention, during ascent and descent there is a risk of falling rocks from other hikers and ibexes. In addition, the summit is very busy in the high season.
