    Bockwindmühle Tönisberg

The mill stands on the Mühlenberg and has not been in operation since 1913.
In 1925, the mill was already a listed building.
During the Second World War, it served as an aerial observation post and received on the 2.3.1945 at the invasion of American troops a grenade hit. But soon after the war, it was repaired. This celebrated the Tönisberger 1949 with a party.
In 1968 the mill was dismantled by the mill-builder Johannes Vossdellen and rebuilt in 1973. Also the Tönisberger celebrated with a mill festival during the summer fair

The post windmill is currently being extensively renovated and stands on steel girders without wings or trestle.

The Bockwindmühle (also Ständermühle, box mill or German windmill) is the oldest windmill type in Europe. The key feature of this mill type is that the entire mill house stands on a single thick pole (the "house tree"), which is vertically mounted in a wooden support frame (the eponymous "Bock") located below the actual mill. On the box, the entire mill machinery can be turned into the wind by leveraging the outer beam. However, this method is not optimal and very difficult in changing wind directions.
