The floodplains along the Zschopau were secured in the area of the town of Frankenberg, Saxony, by flood protection measures and made usable for the State Garden Show. "The Snake", a cycle and pedestrian bridge, connects the town centre of Frankenberg with the new Zschopauaue nature experience area in a barrier-free manner. It crosses the Mühlbachgraben in a serpentine shape and leads as a suspension cable bridge over the B 169 and the Zschopau branch into the new parks. The bridge deck is a welded hollow box, the dimensions of which remain constant over the entire length of the bridge. The striking geometry of the pillar family develops from the terrain. In the area of the main span, the bridge deck is supported by a pylon via spatially arranged main cables and diagonal suspension cables.Competition 1st prize
